opening gala

The puppeteers Stefan and Virginia Matz from the theater con

Curore guide you through the program with their characters from

the performance "Hear my Song".

Csaba Mehes is from Hungary and the funniest mime we can just

imagine. He was therefore already several times invited to Dresden

as we cannot get enough of him. And laughing is healthy.

Duo Mimikry from Berlin presents himself to the Dresden

audience first in the gala and later in her brilliant evening

performance "Visual short stories". They belong to a generation of

mimes that is edefining the art form based on their sound and

certified pantomime training in terms of rhythm, craziness and

speed.

Nabil Zanabili performed in 2017 with his play "Father and Son" at

the pantomime festival MIME> BERLIN. With the Duett Modern

Mimes he will perform a second time later during the festival.

Katja Grahl from Berlin is also part of the duo Modern Mimes and

an artist specializing in galas, dinner shows and city festivals, who

combines mime with dance and artistry.

Hannah Senft from Berlin combines like no other pantomimin lyric

style with absolutely grotesque craziness. She presents at the gala

"I know, black, gray". An absurdly funny, abstract visual essay

about being, appearance and nonbeing, in the above mentioned

"colors".

The Preußsches Marionettentheater from Berlin: Harald Preuß

presents scenes from „Die Zauberflöte“ and „Entführung aus dem

Serail“

Duckie L'Orange is an Australian performance artist based in

Berlin. Using her core artform, figurentheater, she delights and

surprises audiences with comedic and thoughful acts. She has had

a residency collaborating artistically with children at the Sydney

Opera House, worked for many years in contemporary puppetry

with Erth, moderated a steam punk carnival for the Catalan circus

Antigua i Barbuda and has toured Germany with Puppetry Slam

Deutschland. She has also created large scale outdoor

performances with communities in Indonesia and Freiburg. She is

the creator of her solo program Girls! Girls! Girls! and the

UfaFabrik's International Clown Slam.

Arne König is first and foremost known as mime artist in Dresden

as beeing member of the ensemble of the former Pantomimestudio

Dresden and stagings created in cooperation with the AUGUST

Theater and the joint performances with Duncan Cameron

"URKNALL".

AUGUST Theater Dresden: Fri. September 20 8pm Pantomix An all-evening, cheerful mime performance promising blissful entertainment. The scenes of light humor draw upon the typical root situations of comedy, displaying the tools of the classic Decroux mime technique. During the program the audience becomes a participant and active performer of the plot by way of games and improvisations. Among the funny etudes there might surface some scenes of deeper meaning often characterized by grotesque humor, yet easily understandable for the general public.  AUGUST Theater Dresden: Sat. October 12. 8pm Der Zauber des Pierrot Varieté with mimes and Marionettes by Modern Mimes, Berlin and Fischers Marionetten-Theater, Frankenberg/Sa. The magic of imagination. Everything comes out of nowhere and could not be more colorful. A show dedicated to the original spirit of pantomime without stopping on old paths. Stilt walkers, human puppets, awakening mannequins and artistic insoles combine to form an exciting, entertaining show that has always something surprising to offer. In the center stands Pierrot. Pierrot is the outsider, the dreamer with all its facets and ways of playing. He wrestles with the world and tries to reconcile it with his dreams. It creates touching and comic moments that are told with ease. In alternation with short, slapstick-like scenes, a varied program is created for the whole family. Idea, Concept and Direction: Katja Grahl Quite different is the Variety with Fischer's puppets, which understands the history of the traditional puppet stages and conjures up a very close-to-the-people view of the characters on threads. This evening of variety show promises to be unique. Although the stories are very similar, their actors are once made of flesh and blood and on the other hand of wood and cloth, but all can in their own way awaken the Pierrot in us. Fri. October 18 8pm Visual Short Stories mime with Duo Mimikry, Berlin Welcome to the realm of your own imagination! Where are we? In the theater, which does not need a stage set or words, but only the body, joy of playing and the art of transformation, in "Visual Short Stories": What they do not hear, they see and what they do not see, just happens in their head! Duo Mimikry, these are Nicolas Rocher and Elias Elisha, two modern actors who describe the scene completely without words. For many years traveling internationally with programs that understand each language. AUGUST Theater Dresden: Fri. October 25 8pm Hear my Song Musical puppet theater for teens and adults from 14 years with the theater con Cuore, Schlitz A life story about two artists who lose themselves in life and find in music. Hilarious and poetic, witty and touching, exhilarating and disturbing. A roller coaster of emotions as only life makes possible. The street artist Vianne and the abandoned Marc meet in front of Vianne's theater. Marc, who feels like a poor dog, touches Vianne's heart and the two decide from now on together to go their artistic way. They play unnoticed more and more apart until the almost inevitable happens, Vianne leaves Marc. But the bond between them has not been completely cut yet. AUGUST Theater Dresden: Sat. November 09  8pm Cocktails The new puppet show with the puppet theater Raphael Mürle, Pforzheim A refreshing mixed drink gives this production its name. And just as the drink hides its hard component, namely the alcohol, in all sorts of exotic, light fruit taste variations, the figures in this piece also appear complex and mysterious, slowly revealing their true character. The bizarre characters meet in a nightclub and form a kaleidoscope of our society today, which is characterized by the strong urge for individualization. Raphael Mürle's fascinating creatures hold the audience with a slight wink to a mirror in which it is only too happy to see again. Directed by this piece was the world-famous puppet player Prof. Albrecht Roser.

AUGUST Theater Dresden: Sat  November 16 8 pm PREMIERE: The imp pantomime grotesquerie by Eric Wilcox. In Mexico City, a street dog is hit by a car. Before reaching the Valley of the Animals, dogboy must undergo trials. The origin of this action - piece is the rediscovery of pan-to-mime in its original meaning, that ‘everything can be shown’. All is observed and unobserved. A challenge to ‘the gaze’ and a reoccupation of the visual plain. Eric has a forthcoming 180 page autobiography about forty years making shows across the world „Paid to Move, Misadventures on the Global Pantomime Front“ soon available as ebook.

AUGUST Theater Dresden: Sa. November 23 8 pm DON JUAN or Satans Masks  Seduced seducer - a grotesque comedy for an actor with his characters, masks and shadow figures What invitation! Don Juan offers his services. For two hours, the world's greatest lover beckons with his seduction skills. The Spanish nobleman gives his reference: However, the action takes a slightly different course. First it crackles:Night in Seville, blue light dances over splendid town houses, sweet melodies accompany shadows - Don Juan in heavy copulation. The music gets brighter:Satan enters the stage - a greasy-lascivious pimp type in a bright red jacket and plenty of gel in his hair. Cynically, he comments on the hypocritical activity. Satanic and satirical, he lets us look into the abyss of existence. After all Don Juan is honest after all - he operates openly, which otherwise only happens behind closed doors: "I want to break the rule, I want to enjoy it. But my power goes away, in case a woman resists. "Well, that should be found:The copulation has an end - Don Juan does not go down as originally: He succumbs to love. The actor is Satan holding his characters in his hands. Through this interaction of actors and characters succeeds a delightful alienation - a grotesque comedy for all the senses.Puppeteer Grigorij Kästner-Kubsch performs as a soloist in several parade roles. A real theatrical firework will be offered to the audience this evening, a game with an actor and his 1.40-meter figures, with the virtuosity of the language, a grotesque comedy for all the senses.
